Key Responsibilities:
- Master of Systems: Take the reins of all Boilers and associated building systems, including specialized water systems, air compressors, and vacuum pumps, to ensure critical environments remain operational. You'll also oversee related mechanical systems and engage external vendors when necessary.
- Leadership in Operations: Lead and execute preventive maintenance, water chemistry testing, and repairs as needed to ensure boilers and related systems perform at peak levels, supporting everything from labs to vivariums.
- Maintenance Visionary: Collaborate with planners and schedulers to develop and execute an optimized maintenance schedule, ensuring your operations run smoothly and consistently. Your deep understanding of systems will allow you to define and implement best practices to improve uptime across the board.
- Compliance Champion: Stay ahead of regulatory laws and guidelines, maintaining up-to-date documentation and ensuring compliance across all boiler and systems operations. Your keen eye will help identify and address discrepancies before they become issues.
- Problem Solver: Be the first line of defense when issues arise-work with Facility Managers to resolve any operational conditions impacting the building systems, ensuring the client's needs are always met.
- Safety First: Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards and supporting safety training programs. You'll also manage safety documentation for critical facility work and oversee contractors to ensure they follow safety and compliance protocols.
Key Qualifications:
- Licensing & Experience: A State of MA / Cambridge 2nd Class Firemen License (minimum) and at least 3 years of boiler/system operation experience. Extra points if you hold a Class 2I wastewater license.
- Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of boilers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, and CMMS systems. You'll be the go-to expert in all things maintenance and operations.
- Problem-Solving & Communication Skills: You'll need to have a knack for troubleshooting and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
- Physical Requirements: Ready for action! You'll need to regularly lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform various physical tasks throughout your shift.
