What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Malco?
Key Performance Objectives:
- Drive and execute strategic quality initiatives aligned with company goals.
- Lead the Quality Department to achieve organizational quality standards and continuous improvement objectives.
- Collaborate with global suppliers to ensure alignment with Malco’s quality standards and drive process improvements.
- Develop and implement a robust Cost of Quality process, achieving measurable improvements.
- Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external quality audits, ensuring compliance with ISO and other relevant standards.
Essential Duties:
- Lead and manage Quality Department activities, including advanced product quality planning (APQP) and other core quality tools.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop and enforce global quality standards that meet product and process requirements.
- Train, motivate, and mentor employees to uphold and exceed quality standards.
- Oversee monitoring, measurement, and review processes impacting quality objectives, identifying risks and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Conduct product, system, and compliance audits while promoting continuous improvement across the organization.
- Facilitate cross-functional teams to develop and implement Process Flows, FMEA, and Control Plans, ensuring smooth design-to-production transitions.
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to align product and manufacturing requirements.
- Manage departmental budgets and recommend capital expenditures to support quality initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Advanced knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including statistical quality control tools.
- Leadership and team-building capabilities, with a focus on mentoring and talent development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and expertise in 8D Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, and APQP.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills, fostering collaboration across all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of ISO standards and automotive core quality tools (e.g., FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
- Certifications in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or ASQ are preferred but not required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing or supplier quality, including managerial responsibilities.
- OR High school diploma with 7–10 years of progressive experience as a Quality Supervisor.
- Preferred but not required: Six Sigma Black Belt certification and familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes.
- Travel up to 15%
Compensation:
- Malco Tools offers competitive wages, with the beginning salary range for this position starting at:
- $116k - $150k
