The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment troubleshooting, with the flexibility to travel extensively.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site repairs and maintenance on heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and cranes.
- Identify mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and efficiently perform repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct regular service checks, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and general inspections.
- Maintain accurate service records, document parts usage, and provide detailed repair reports.
- Follow company and OSHA safety standards, properly use personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to safe work practices.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and equipment operators to understand equipment issues and prioritize repairs.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret equipment schematics and service manuals.
- ASE or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software for heavy equipment.
