Bakery Clerk / Malek's Bakery

Overview
We are seeking an energetic, friendly self-starter to join the team at our friendly, neighborhood bakery in Brighton, NY. This is a fast-paced food service position that includes serving customers, answering phones, cleaning, restocking, and occasional support for back-of-house production. Ideal employee is: reliable and punctual; always looking out for what needs to be done next; able to work independently; friendly and helpful to customers; and are supportive team players. There is the potential for long-term career opportunities – the bakery will be undergoing relocation and expansion in the next 12-24 months. Spanish-speaking a plus.

Job Hours

• Days: Monday - Friday (Bakery is closed on Saturdays)
• Time: 6:30am - 1PM Monday. 6:30AM - 2:00PM Tuesday. 6:30 - 3:00PM Wednesday. 6:30 - 4:00PM Thursday and Friday.

Sundays and Overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Opening: stock cases, prep sandwich station, make coffee
• Take and fill orders: Use POS to accept in-person, phone and web orders, including custom cake and catering orders; Be knowledgeable about products, help customers find what they need, upsell; Package items appropriately; Use electric bread slicing machine; Make sandwiches, catering platters, etc.
• Stocking: Ongoing case replenishment; Manage day-olds, rotating stock; Keep supplies stocked (boxes, bags)
• Tidying work areas, cafe table, chairs, counters
• Support back-of-house bakery production staff as needed: including but not limited to washing dishes, decorating cookies, etc. (we try to cross-train our staff as much as possible)
• Store closing on occasion

This is a physically-demanding job. You must be able to stand for extended periods of time, carry full baking sheets, bend and reach to access lower and higher shelves.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
