Summary .

The Harness Engineering Technician is responsible for creating, maintaining, revising, and updating production and prototype harness assembly boards, along with associated requirements, to support and enhance manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities .

• Prioritize safety in all activities and ensure consistent demonstration of safety practices across the team.
• Build prototype/sample harnesses from engineering drawings or work instructions using both standard and alternative methods, including automated and manual wire cutting, automated and manual crimping, and wire splicing.
• Identify and report issues encountered during the build process, including problems with drawings or work instructions.
• Respond to service requests and address issues with harness assembly boards used in production.
• Troubleshoot issues and develop, implement, and execute effective recovery plans.
• Manage inventory of materials and parts needed to complete harness assembly tasks, ensuring availability and efficient use of resources.
• Analyze data and information provided by teammates and customers to devise practical solutions to problems.
• Identify opportunities for improvement through periodic audits and reviews, recommending and implementing solutions to address defects or inefficiencies.
• Stay current with all necessary training, qualifications, and updates required to perform the role effectively.

Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, with a minimum of three years of experience in hands on manufacturing in a professional environment.
• Knowledge of basic computer software (Office 365, MS Excel) required
  
  

Language Skills

• English required.
• Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and addressing customer requests effectively.
  
  

Mathematical Skills

• Proficiency in basic arithmetic, including fractions and decimals.
  
  

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to diagnosis and solve problems
• Ability to solve practical problems and come up with reasonable solution
• Able to interpret instructions in written and schedule form
  
  

Other Qualifications

• Ability to safely operate and be proficient using power tools (hand and stationary) to execute basic woodworking and light metal fabrication.
• Ability to read, interpret and understand basic mechanical and electrical drawings
• Ability to read a multimeter to measure voltage, continuity, and other electrical measurements
• Ability to read a tape measure/ruler in inches, to include increments of 1/16 inch and/or millimeters, to include increments of 1mm.
