Summary:
The primary role of a Repair Technician includes servicing / repair of Customer, Dealer, Demo or factory owned boats including but not limited to gel coat, electrical, or mechanical issues. A marine tech is defined as a tech that has the skills to perform all repair methods, including extensive diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical components, and can troubleshoot mechanicals systems including engines and CAN network systems.

Education And/or Experience
Employee is exposed to ambient cold temperatures for short periods in winter months and is exposed to ambient heat temperatures in summer months. Airborne particulates from buffing/sanding fiberglass and/or gelcoat. Chemical exposure risk with gelcoat and catalyst.
Safety glasses are required at all times. Chemical resistant gloves required. Dust mask available upon request.
Typical 10-hour workdays, frequent overtime required as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Checks in customer boats as required.
- Reviews work order list & confirms corrective action needed and agrees upon repair time with supervisor based on flat rate times.
- For every boat worked on, must document engine hours on the WO or Trello.
- Documents and collects all parts necessary for repairs.
- Updates supervisor as necessary if new issues are found.
- Performs in depth diagnostic and troubleshooting on all aspects of Malibu product.
- Lake tests boats as necessary and updates associated paperwork.
- Reviews all repairs made with supervisor for repair sign off.
- Delivers all completed associated repair paperwork to supervisor or service writer.
- Performs daily, weekly, monthly safety audits on qualifying equipment as necessary to ensure compliance.
- Cleans and organizes work area daily to insure 5S compliance.
- Winterizes all boats as necessary (stock boats, repair boats, etc.).
- Ensures supervisor is aware of any and all issues that might prevent work from being completed.
- Any other duties as assigned.

Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three plus years related experience and/or training. Must be willing to learn new repair techniques as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, electrical schematics, service bulletins, The ability to log onto the OEM dealer portal and find technical information. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, OEMs, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have a good working knowledge of boat manufacturing and repair techniques.
- Ability to walk up stairs and throughout a facility to obtain information required to obtain information for consumers / dealers. Able to climb into and out of boats.
