What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import Coordinator position at Mallory Alexander International Logistics?

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare necessary entry documents for wide variety of goods and commodities to the relevant regulatory agencies, such as U.S. Customs, FDA, and USDA, in order to secure customs clearance.
- Arrange pickup of air and ocean freight at origins and arrange transportation to destination.
- Coordinate movement of shipments from port via ocean, air, rail, truck or intermodal.
- Prepare and submit Arrival Notices.
- Prepare and examine bills of lading to determine shipping charges and tariffs.
- Communicate with vendors.
- Track and trace shipments.
- Coordinate deliveries to consignees.
- Communicate and follow up with clients regarding shipment status, questions and/or other inquiries.
- Advise clients on transportation options, types of carriers, or shipping routes.
- Post bonds for the products being imported or assist clients in obtaining bonds.
- Pay or arrange for payment of freight, and insurance fees, or other charges.
- Maintain communication and information between Customers and Vendors to ensure that customers’ needs are met.
- Generate invoicing in accordance with company policy.
- Ensuring internal compliance standards are met.
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- 2 years freight forwarding industry experience.
- Customs Brokerage experience preferred.
- Cargowise One experience.
- Excellent organizational, time management, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals to complete work accurately, thoroughly and on tight timelines to best serve customer needs.
This position is in office (not remote or hybrid), Monday through Friday.
