What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import Supervisor position at Mallory Alexander International Logistics?
The primary purpose of the Import Supervisor is to coordinate and support the Import operation process, including Customs Brokerage, maintaining awareness of regulations affecting the international movement of cargo.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist in daily Import activities, including operations, customs brokerage entry writing, invoicing/billing.
- Coordinate movement of shipments.
- Manage relationships with all customers assigned to the team and assist with customer complaint resolution, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Understand all departmental operational functions – i.e. billing, tracking, transportation, entry writing, operational systems, etc.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated and complicated operational and accounting issues.
- Ensure compliance with customer SOPs, US government agency regulations, and Company Corporate Compliance & Training standards.
- Identify and develop ways to improve current operational processes that meet Company Corporate Compliance, Training standards and SOPs and customer SOP requirements.
- Delegate tasks and project work within the team and provide hands-on support to meet fluctuating volume and staffing levels.
- Actively develop and mentor team members on an ongoing basis; build positive morale and offer assistance when needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Logistics preferred, but not required.
- Minimum 2-5 years of Import Air/Ocean and Customs brokerage experience at a supervisory level.
- Advanced understanding of industry terminology, government regulations, and operational processes related to international shipping both ocean and air transport modes.
- Experience in Freight Forwarding, NVOCC, and Entry Writing.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel and operational systems.
- Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skills.
- Experience using operating system CargoWise One.
- LCB preferred.
This is a full time, in office (not remote) position.
