Mallory Safety and Supply is currently looking for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Portland!
This is an exciting opportunity to step into the world of procurement and supply chain management as a Buyer with the largest independently held safety distributor on the West Coast. With over 35 locations, 600 employees, $10 million in inventory, and a $1.5 million rental fleet, we have more than quadrupled in size over the last decade. We are seeking motivated professionals to help drive our continued growth!
In this position, you will work closely with our Vice President of Purchasing and the rest of our Supply Chain team. This is a great opportunity for a proactive individual looking to make a direct impact on a major company's procurement operations.

Responsibilities of the Buyer role include, but are not limited to:
- Managing procurement activities, including purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment
- Analyzing demand forecasts to determine purchasing needs and maintain optimal inventory levels
- Negotiating pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors and suppliers
- Monitoring supplier performance to ensure timely deliveries and quality compliance
- Collaborating with internal departments to align purchasing with company goals
- Maintaining and updating procurement records and documentation
- Managing purchase orders and ensuring accurate data entry into company ERP systems
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the supply chain
- Resolving any supplier-related issues, including delays or discrepancies in shipments
- Staying informed on industry trends, pricing, and supplier market conditions
Minimum Qualifications for the Buyer role include:
- 2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
- Experience in the industrial/ safety experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends and supplier performance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and ERP systems such as Profit21
- Knowledge in importing is a plus!
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
