Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Division 8 Hollow Metal Estimator to join our team in Tupelo, Mississippi. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong background in estimating commercial door, frame, and hardware projects. The estimator will be responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Develop detailed project bids for Division 8 (doors, frames, and hardware) and submit to contractors and clients.
- Consult with project managers, architects, and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing and product selection.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and risk factors in project estimates.
- Work closely with sales and purchasing teams to ensure pricing accuracy and competitive bidding.
- Maintain and update estimating tools, including material costs, labor rates, and supplier databases.
- Assist in project negotiations and provide recommendations to management.
- Track and report on bid results, project profitability, and market trends.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, local building codes, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in Division 8 estimating, construction estimating, or a related field.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Software Knowledge: Experience with estimating software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of Division 8 materials, including hollow metal doors, frames, wood doors, and architectural hardware.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and team members.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with construction contractors and suppliers in the commercial building industry.
- Familiarity with industry-specific estimating programs such as Comsense, ProEst, or similar software.
- Knowledge of fire-rated openings and ADA compliance requirements.
