The Role
We have a brand new opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to join the dynamic Group IT team and take responsibility for designing, deploying and managing the organisation’s data strategy and architecture. As the company is half way through an exciting transformation journey as “One James Fisher”, revamping business systems, leveraging and managing data becomes a pivotal part for success.
This role requires a deep understanding of data management principles, data modelling, and the ability to align data architecture with business goals. We are looking for previous experience in a similar role with focus on formulating and delivering data strategy, excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to work collaboratively across various teams.
The role will be home-based with some occasional travel as and when required with project purpose.

Principle Accountabilities
- Group IT strategy review and plan for business system implementation.
- Work with key stakeholders to deliver a robust data strategy .
- Develop and implement data architecture strategies that support the organisation's needs, designing data models, schemas, and data integration solutions to ensure data is accurate, reliable, and accessible.
- Oversee the management of data repositories, data lakes and understanding of key business system data architecture. Ensure data is stored securely and can be retrieved efficiently.
- Design and implement data integration solutions to combine data from different sources and systems. Ensure seamless data flow across the organisation.
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
- Work closely with Group IT colleagues, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Evaluate new data management technologies and tools. Recommend and implement solutions that enhance data architecture and management capabilities.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, data models, and data management processes.
- Monitor and optimise data systems for performance, reliability, and scalability. Address any data-related issues promptly.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of business analysis and process mapping.
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- Extensive experience with database management systems, data modelling, and data integration.
- Proficiency in SQL, and various data management technologies.
- Experience with data warehousing, ETL processes, and data governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and collaborative approach.
- Creative and innovative thinker who can develop new solutions to meet evolving data challenges.
