Summary of Position:

The Sales Floor Team Member is responsible for providing excellent customer service by creating a warm and friendly shopping experience throughout the store, while maintaining visual and procedural standards. This individual also provides efficient service by processing transactions and handling cash accurately.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment, including greeting and acknowledging customers, possessing and providing solid product knowledge, answering questions, obtaining merchandise requested, completing payment transactions, and all other components of customer service
• Gains and maintains knowledge of products sold within the department to ensure excellent customer service; maintains familiarity with product names, pronunciation, origin, and definition of industry terms
• Ensures items are correctly rang into the system and are accurately made; communicates with Department Head or manager regarding potential issues
• Collects payments by accepting cash, check, or charge payments from customers; making accurate change for cash customers
• Focuses on accurately processing customer transactions
• Prepares the store for customers by unloading and verifying deliveries, stocking shelves, and ensuring newly delivered product is accurately and promptly placed on the sales floor
• Ensures product is rotated following the FIFO protocol, within expire date, and properly displayed on shelves according to company policy
• Maintains visual and sanitary standards by regularly cleaning shelves, coolers, freezers, and grocery aisles on the sales floor
• Organizes stock room, coolers, and freezers as assigned
• Follows proper protocol for placing and storing special orders as well as contacting customer when their special order is ready for pick up
• Provides nutritional and common use information on products to customers
• Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures
• Encourages and maintains a positive attitude with employees and customers so that the atmosphere of Mama Jean’s continues to be happy and welcoming
• Understands the importance of safety while performing all duties
• Performs any other duties as assigned by Sales Floor Manager and/or Store Manager

Physical Requirements:

The Grocery Team Member works standing and walking throughout their shift, and frequently lifts weights up to 25 pounds. The Grocery Team Member may occasionally lift weights from 10-50 pounds, to heights of 10 to 36 inches. Occasional use of a 2-step or 3-step stool may also be required. They may maneuver (push and/or pull) a 4-wheeled cart loaded with products weighing up to 200 pounds. Portions of the shift may be performed in temperatures around or below freezing. There may be abrupt temperature changes as the Team Member moves from one environment to another.
