What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pizza Maker - Neapolitan Style Pizza position at Mambo Italia?
Our restaurant is looking for a skilled pizza maker to join our team. The hired candidate will be responsible for preparing Neapolitan pizzas that follow our recipes. You will need to be able to work quickly with a high degree of accuracy to be successful due to the fast-paced environment of our restaurant.
In addition to making pizzas, you will also be expected to support our restaurant in other ways. This will often include taking customers’ orders and providing them with exceptional service. You will also be asked to help us prepare pizza toppings, sauces, and dough. The hired candidate will also help us maintain our inventory and unload deliveries as needed. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with various pizza types and be available to work during business hours.
Responsibilities
Primary
o Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of MAMBO ITALIA.
o Prepare high-quality pizza ingredients such as: dough, sauces, and toppings
o Cook pizzas that satisfy our customers’ expectations
o Monitor inventory and communicate with a supervisor when stock and supplies are running low
o Plate or package pizzas neatly when they come out of the oven
o Follow all relevant food health and safety requirements
o Assist us in maintaining a clean and sanitary workplace
o Inspect and clean, and maintain food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfaces, or serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
o Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of brick oven and other kitchen equipment.
o Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of all items, and rotating stock.
o Knows and complies consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
o Responsible for the quality of products served.
o Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to support a smooth service period.
o Handles, stores, and rotates all food products and supplies according to restaurant policies and procedures.
o Cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
o Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
o Portion, arrange, and garnish food, according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications and serve food to servers or guests.
o Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently.
o Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
o Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
o Closes the kitchen following the closing checklist for kitchen stations and assists others in closing the kitchen.
o Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.
o Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.
o Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
Qualifications
o Previous pizza making, cook, or baker experience.
