Description
The Director of Training, Learning & Development is responsible for strategic oversight, development and execution of Training, Learning & Development objectives for the company. This role will oversee training staff, evaluate training effectiveness and ensure compliance within industry standards. The Director will develop our team members’ skills in order to improve quality of work, productivity and retention.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversee all learning & development programs within the organization
- Identify training needs based on skills gap analysis
- Develop group and individual learning courses
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of training programs
- Manage training budget
- Evaluate results of all training courses and propose action items to address areas of need
- Implement coaching sessions and mentorship programs to establish a culture of continuous learning
- Craft career plans
- Develop a strong management development curriculum
- Recommend new training methods
- Work with outside vendors to develop TL&D curriculum for both short- and long-term objectives
- Ability to work with cross functional teams and build relationships
- Ensure all training programs comply with relevant legal requirements, industry standards and organizational policies
- Will provide direct supervision to the Training Manager. Will also collaborate with field-based Training teams.
Required Skills/Abilities
- In depth understanding of traditional and modern training methods (including workshops, simulations, e-learning and coaching)
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements related to employee training & development
- Understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion principles, with the ability to incorporate them into training programs
- Experience in creating training content that is culturally relevant and accessible to a diverse workforce
- Experience in organizing training activities in both a corporate environment and site level
- Hands on experience with project management and budgeting
- Experience in Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong attention to detail a must
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Experience in a Director level role with oversight of training, preferably in a hospitality setting
- Up to 50% travel may be required (based on business needs)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment and use a computer
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (when on site)
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
This position may also be based out of our Birmingham, AL office or our West Florida sites.
