What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respiratory Care Practitioner position at Mammoth Hospital?
The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) possesses sufficient training and experience to perform independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, clinical evaluation of care, including the establishment of therapeutic objectives and the review of care. The RCP II Provides respiratory therapy modalities per protocol or as ordered by physicians. The RCP II is responsible for demonstrating proficiency in the use/operation of respiratory equipment and provision of respiratory treatment to assigned age specific patient population (e.g. infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics) and participates in related continuing education. Provides care to patients according to professional standards and established procedures, using good judgment and personal initiative.
What You'll Do:
- Performs all respiratory care services for all patients: geriatric, adult, pediatric, and neonatal.
- Duties include ventilator management, nebulized medication therapy, oxygen therapy, specialty gas administration, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, mist tent therapy, quality assurance and improvement, charge capture review.
- Perform diagnostic procedures: e.g. 12-lead ECGS, simple pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, assist physician with cardiac stress testing.
- Perform arterial and capillary punctures; determine oxygenation, acid-base balance and efficiency of ventilation and metabolism; ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Will have close collaboration with other members of health care team; participates in continuing education and Rapid Response Team.
- Record treatment and patients' responses in respiratory care records and patient charts.
- Able to assess patients, their needs and ability to tolerate treatment and make a reassessment based on their response to treatment.

Qualifications:
- College diploma required.
- Three years experience as a Respiratory Therapist required.
- State of CA Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
- American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, BLS certification required.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required.
Job Information:
- Per-Diem, varied 12 hour shifts, on-call required.
- Starting wage $39.86 to $48.32 based on qualifications.
