Procurement - Logistics Coordinator
Summary: Responsible for coordinating all material transits within and outside the organization. The tactical focal point for correct communication among different areas of the company regarding transportation and logistics as well as communication between the company and external agents in charge of freight and customs brokerage. Enforces compliance with rules and code of regulations, internal as well as external, regarding shipping and receiving of different goods.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Initiate shipment at point of origin to include import, export and domestic:
Ensure that all imports are properly cleared and delivered to destination. The goal is that all shipments move fluidly through the customs process to timely delivery.
Ensure that all exports are properly prealerted to receiving parties. The goal is that all shipments that are to be exported are properly alerted to the receiving parties in a timely manner.
Ensure that all domestic shipments are moved in the most efficient means available.
Track and trace of all shipments managed and entered into the system. The goal is that all shipments have tracking details and the information is available for the stakeholders.
Communicate shipment details continually from origin through destination to all internal/external customers.
Utilizes e-commerce tools related to freight and logistics.
Assist Shipping and Receiving in booking, and documentation as needed. The goal is to provide any assistance needed to support this vital function.
Secure all documentation from Vendors and file properly.
Perform vendor management activities:
Evaluate vendor performance.
Procure vendors for service/ goods.
Give support to Purchasing Organization.
Required Education: Minimum high school diploma or experience commensurate with educational requirements.
Required Experience: 3 years of logistics, import & export operations, freight forwarding, warehousing management and shipping and receiving experience.
Required 3rd party Certifications/Qualifications: None.
Other skills:
SAP knowledge.
Microsoft Excel, knowledge (advanced – intermediate level, work with Pivot tables, charts and formulas).
Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Work requires the direct application of a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents. Moderate analytic ability is required in applying guidelines, policies and procedures, and in adapting standard methods to fit facts and conditions.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, shipping documents, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak and write in English is required. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such asfreight costs, discounts, duty and taxes, proportions, percentages, weight, dimensions, volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, sit and stand within normal office and warehouse requirements.
