What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospital outpatient & Inpatient Coders, West side of Chicago position at Managed Care Staffers?
Our client, a hospital on the west side of Chicago, has a need for 2-3 experienced coders with hospital billing experience. Profee experience is a plus as well. The client is looking for candidates with at least 2-3 years of recent experience E / M coding. This is a full time temporary that is expected to last at least 6 weeks. Hours are Monday-Friday from (8 : 30am to 5 : 00pm). This position is 100% on site at the hospital. This position requires the ability to code 50 encounters per day with a high accuracy rate. Any of the following certificates is required : RHIT, CPC-H or CCS. Job Description : Uses coding guidelines to ensure correct coding principles are being applied.This is a production environment where both quality and production rates are monitored.Reviews charge tickets and / or medical records for proper assignment of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers according to authoritative sources for coding, billing and documentation.Applies AMA, Medicare and specific payer guidelines in evaluating charge ticket and medical records. Where appropriate, specialty society recommendation may be applied.Works with internal staff to provide appeal rationale for the purpose of obtaining all eligible reimbursement or to provide rationale based on coding principles on why a service should not be appealed. Requirements : RHIT, CPC or CCS required2-3 years of hospital services in theExperience with ER, infusion and substance detox would be helpfulExperience with Meditech EMR is preferred.
