Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician with a specialty in automation and controls will support production operations and lead complex maintenance activities. The role involves providing mentorship to junior technicians, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on complex mechanical and electromechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Use basic and advanced hand tools, power tools, and lifting equipment to maintain and repair machinery.
- Operate standard shop equipment such as hydraulic presses, mills, and lathes.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electromechanical systems, including motion controls, sensors, and electrical circuits.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks, machine lubrication, adjustments, and safety checks.
- Troubleshoot and repair advanced manufacturing equipment with minimal supervision.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Mentor junior technicians and lead complex maintenance projects.
- Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines, including OSHA standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and complete all necessary paperwork accurately.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical training or 5 years of related experience in maintenance and automation.
- Advanced knowledge in areas such as mechanical systems, electrical controls, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLCs, VFDs, and other related systems is preferred.
- Strong industrial mechanical skills, including machining, welding, and fabrication.
- HVAC, compressed air systems, dust collection, and electrical distribution experience are a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights exceeding 30 feet.
- Must have prior experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- The role involves working in a normal factory environment with exposure to wood dust and aluminum.
- Must be able to withstand extreme temperatures, including heat exceeding 95°F, and work indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
