Position Summary :
Reports to the Warden. Directly supervises the major, chief of classification, mailroom supervisor, laundry manager, food service manager, maintenance supervisor, and chaplain. Responsible for overall management of security, classification, food service, mailroom, maintenance, disciplinary, risk management, religious activities and laundry functions in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
Essential Functions :
- Plan, coordinate and direct the total administrative and programmatic activities.
- Provide staff training, evaluates staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the warden and coordinated with the human resources manager prior to implementation.
- Develop departmental budgets; monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations.
- Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting security, classification, food service, mailroom, laundry, maintenance and religious services; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall facility objectives.
- Assist in the development, implementation and revision of policies and procedures and ensure each is reviewed annually.
- Provide guidance and support to staff and offenders to ensure compliance with procedures, policies
and practices.
