What you'll do : You'll report to the designated major. Directly supervises designated employees. Performs complex work supervising the care and custody of Inmates. Work involves directing the activities of assigned staff engaged in maintaining order and discipline of Inmates in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.
Essential Functions :
Education and Experience Requirements :
Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. Four (4) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience, to include two (2) years in the supervision of employees. At least one (1) year of required supervisory experience must be as a mid-level manager (supervisor of supervisors). Operational Review Sergeant or Security Threat Group Sergeant experience may be substituted for required supervisory experience for a maximum substitution of one (1) year. Thirty (30) semester hours, with a minimum of six (6) semester hours in Criminal Justice, from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required non-supervisory experience. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements :
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements to include physical agility testing and pass an annual background check, both of which must be approved by TDCJ.
