Position Summary :
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for leading the estimating process for large-scale public works projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to budgets and timelines. This position requires a seasoned professional with in-depth knowledge of construction practices, public-sector contract requirements, and the ability to manage multiple estimating tasks in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates for public works projects, including government buildings, schools, transportation infrastructure, and more.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine the scope of work and ensure completeness of estimates.
- Develop and analyze cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead costs.
- Work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing for project components.
- Prepare and submit bids for public sector projects, ensuring compliance with all government regulations and contractual requirements.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and assist in the development of project schedules and budgets.
- Analyze bid risks and propose strategies to mitigate potential issues during the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers and the project team to refine cost estimates during the construction process.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, construction materials, and local labor conditions to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
- Assist in the review and negotiation of contracts and change orders.
- Mentor and train junior estimators and staff as needed.
