The Graceville Correctional Facility located in Graceville, FL., is now hiring educators to assist with making a difference in the lives of those on the inside.
Position Summary:
Reports to the education administrator. Responsible for coordinating the placement of offender students in an educational environment most conducive to their educational needs. Coordinate all testing and counseling activities in the education administrator in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Florida Department of Corrections FDOC) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide individualized counseling in order to develop an academic and/or vocational plan for program participants.
2. Interpret cognitive, aptitude, and achievement tests in order to effectively place inmates in appropriate programs.
3. Review and recommend instructional materials to help individuals reach mastery of the competencies required for entry, advancement and successful completion of their academic and/or vocational plan.
4. Effectively manage classroom rosters by coordinating with the state classification department,
considering inmate requests, and utilizing test data.
5. Monitor motivation, discipline and learning difficulties to bring about positive changes in the behavior of inmates.
6. Evaluate and maintain records of the inmate’s progress toward completion of pre-established
performance objectives.
7. Coordinate, administer, and proctor the General Education Diploma (GED) exam.
8. Verify vocational program completions and submit appropriate documentation to the relevant state board licensing agency.
9. Execute all applicable forms to adhere to facility procedures.
10. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
11. Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university required, bachelor’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
