Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for use.
- Take X-rays as required, adhering to safety protocols.
- Record vital signs and update patient medical records accurately in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions.
- Manage dental terminology effectively to communicate with both patients and team members.
- Assist with pediatric patients, ensuring a comfortable experience for children during their visits.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and work areas according to infection control standards.
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow within the office efficiently.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Open Dental or similar dental software is an advantage.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and basic understanding of medical records management is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients, families, and team members.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is a plus but not required.
