- MPCS staff preferred.
- Knowledge and background in assigned sport.
- Knowledge and background in working with students with special needs.
- Previous coaching experience is desirable.
- Supervise Student(s): Monitor student participation in track activities, ensuring their safety and engagement. Provide necessary support and guidance throughout each session. Accompany student(s) to all practices and meets.
- Ensure Safety and Prevent Elopement: Maintain vigilance over student(s) to ensure their whereabouts are always known. Take proactive measures to prevent elopement and create a secure environment.
- Support Social Skills Development: Assist student(s) in fostering positive interactions with peers and coaches. Encourage and facilitate meaningful social engagement to enhance their overall experience in the track program.
- Assist with Track Activities: Help student(s) understand and follow instructions for various track exercises and events. Provide physical support as needed and adapt activities based on individual abilities.
- Communicate with Staff: Collaborate closely with the track coach and special education staff to ensure student(s) receive appropriate support. Address any concerns promptly and effectively.
- Report and Document Progress: Maintain accurate records of student(s) progress, interactions, and any incidents. Provide regular updates to staff and caregivers as needed.
- Implement Injury Response Procedures: Follow appropriate protocols when responding to injuries, ensuring prompt and effective care.
- Ensure Readiness for Emergencies: Maintain access to first aid kits and emergency care cards at all times.
- Inspect and Maintain Safety Standards: Regularly assess facilities, equipment, and environmental conditions to ensure a safe experience for all participants.
- Engage in Professional Development: Participate in professional growth activities to enhance skills and effectiveness.
- Support Award Programs: Assist in the implementation of award programs in accordance with school procedures.
- Promote Sportsmanship: Foster an environment that encourages respect, teamwork, and good sportsmanship among all participants.
- Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls.
- Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
- Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

Seeking a dedicated and compassionate Track and Field Student Support Assistant to support students with disabilities in our after-school track program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the student’s safety, addressing elopement concerns, and supporting the development of social skills while participating in track activities.
