Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide essential support and care to individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will assist clients in their daily activities, promote independence, and enhance their quality of life through personalized care. This role is crucial in fostering a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and assistance to clients in home community settings, ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Monitor vital signs and report any significant changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences.
• Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote emotional well-being and community integration.
• Provide support for individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them navigate daily challenges while fostering independence.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, incidents, and any changes in behavior or health status.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, family members, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in home health care or direct support roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and basic medical procedures.
• Familiarity with dementia care practices and strategies for supporting individuals with cognitive impairments.
• Experience administering medications safely and effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
• CPR certification is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
• A genuine passion for assisting others and enhancing their quality of life.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and schedules.
