JOB DESCRIPTION:
The MDC Events Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of events, handling both creative and logistical aspects. This role requires close collaboration with the Events Committee to develop and enhance events that support the district. The Events Coordinator will work with businesses, vendors, and talent to ensure smooth operations and achieve set goals and standards. Additionally, this role involves working on the Manayunk Marketing Team to craft messaging, campaigns, and content that align with the overall brand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Event Planning & Coordination
- Plan, organize, and execute events in alignment with Manayunk Development Corporation’s mission.
- Develop event layouts, timelines, and logistics plans (permits, rentals, catering, entertainment, etc.).
- Serve as liaison with the City of Philadelphia departments (Streets, Health, Police, EMS) to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate vendors: solicit new participants, send applications, collect payments, and maintain relationships.
- Manage event budgets and ensure spending aligns with financial goals.
- Oversee all on-site event execution, including vendor and staff coordination, set-up/breakdown, and day-of
- troubleshooting.
- Conduct event recaps, collect feedback, and analyze event performance.
Marketing & Communications
- Write and edit for Manayunk Magazine; coordinate interviews and photo shoots.
- Develop event press releases and collaborate closely with partner press agency.
- Coordinate press shoots/segments with media; serve as events spokesperson in interviews.
- Contribute to the Manayunk blog, newsletters, and other promotional content.
- Support marketing team with editing and storytelling tied to event coverage.
- Assist in creation and distribution of event marketing materials (digital and print).
- Support social media strategy, photo/video shoots, and website updates related to events.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn event platforms like Let’s Rallie, Eventbrite, and Zapplication to enhance the
- attendee/vendor experience.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, hospitality, or event planning, and 2 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required.
- Experience in a non-profit, Business Improvement District or Downtown organization preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- This is not an entry-level position.
- This position requires you to be able to work occasional nights and weekends.
- This is an in-person position based in Manayunk, with potential opportunities for hybrid work in the future.
COMPENSATION:
This full-time opportunity offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary will be based on qualifications. This is a non-site position. SALARY RANGE 55-65K based on years of experience and similar event/bid experience.
