Job Summary:
The Manchester Business Association is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Events Manager to procure, plan and execute a variety of events in Manchester, VT. This role involves researching event opportunities, managing event budgets, and working closely with local businesses and organizations to both enhance existing events and bring vibrant new events to the community. The Events Manager will collaborate with the Executive Director and other stakeholders to promote and execute well-organized events, ensuring they meet the needs of residents, visitors, Town of Manchester and MBA members. The role also includes vendor management, volunteer coordination, as well as fostering community engagement through event sponsorships and collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Opportunity Research & Procurement: Identify and evaluate emerging event opportunities happening across the Northeast, developing strategies to bring these fresh events to Manchester to enhance the town's cultural and community vibrancy. This includes, but is not limited to, sporting events, seasonal recreational activities, festival creation, and collaborating with established Northeast festivals, groups, and events to introduce them to Manchester, VT.
- Town Events: Plan and collaborate with Town of Manchester employees to enhance existing community events throughout the year, focusing on improving venue scheduling, catering, entertainment, sponsorships, and RSVP management to ensure their continued success.
- Existing Events: Plan, coordinate, and elevate the experience of established annual events such as Manchester Streetfest, Concerts on the Green, and the Holiday Tree Lighting, working to enhance their impact and community engagement each year.
- Promotion & Marketing: Work closely with the Executive Director to promote events across multiple platforms, the MBA website, newsletters and eblasts, social media channels including print where needed. Work with local businesses and organizations to promote and distribute event materials both digitally and in print.
- Collaboration & Sponsorships: Work directly with the Manchester Business Association to promote events and solicit sponsorships to support these initiatives.
- Event Attendance & Networking: Attend local community events and functions to network with residents and local organizations, identifying new event opportunities and potential collaborators.
- Community Engagement: Coordinate with local businesses and residents for donations (e.g., bingo prizes) and assist with planning and organizing special events such as ribbon-cuttings for new businesses.
- Event Venue Guide: Develop a comprehensive database that showcases a variety of event venues and locations throughout Manchester, providing detailed information for all types of events.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in event planning and management.
- Must reside within a 45-mile radius of Manchester, VT.
- Proven track record of successfully identifying event opportunities and maximizing their potential.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and occasional weekends.
- Experience with event sales and marketing strategies.
- Strong financial acumen.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and basic event management tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with budgeting and financial management for events.
- Ability to take event photographs for social media and promotional materials.
- Knowledge of local businesses and community organizations in the Manchester area.
