What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraeducator - ANCHOR position at Manchester Elementary Middle School?
ANCHOR is a district-wide program housed at Manchester Elementary Middle School. The ANCHOR program is specifically designed for students in grades K-8 whose behaviors substantially impact their ability to meaningfully access the general education classroom instruction. The ANCHOR Program provides a predictable, therapeutic, and structured educational environment with direct instruction in social-emotional skill development and the teaching of self-regulation strategies.
The Paraeducator - ANCHOR performs a variety of instructional and/or support duties to assist the school and teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students in group and/or one to one settings. The Paraeducator - ANCHOR assists in the implementation of services to students with significant behavioral, social and academic needs per the student’s Individualized Education Plan. The Anchor Paraeducator will work to support school teams in the implementation of teaching plans for individual students identified by school teams.
Paraeducators work under the day-to-day direction of the staff member(s) supported, and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Principal. Teachers and/or special education personnel will provide specific directions and oversight for supervision and/or instructional support.
