Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union seeks a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team at Manchester Elementary Middle School for the 2025/2026 school year! The Teacher is primarily responsible for providing comprehensive instructional services and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate educational plans for students in grades PK-8 who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing fosters safe, inclusive, and culturally-responsive learning environments to develop emotional well-being, positive social interactions, and self-determination for students with these unique exceptionalities to become active and effective learners.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, expertise in developing personalized programs for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and extensive experience servicing individuals with exceptionalities in a variety of public education settings. This is a terrific opportunity for a teacher with an interest and passion for educating this incredible population of students.
This position requires knowledge of general and specialized curricula, interventions, assessments and skills to support and advance individualized learning for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and the ability to collaborate with other professionals in an inclusive setting. Applicants are expected to know current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, strong relationship building skills with students, and a commitment to working collaboratively with all colleagues.
