Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Meets New Hampshire requirements for Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
- Master’s Degree with emphasis in curriculum and instruction and/or educational administration. Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies or Doctorate degree preferred.
- Must obtain Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies or Doctorate Degree within three years of initial hire date.
- Minimum of five years (5) classroom experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of building level administrative/supervisory experience and/or district level curriculum and instruction experience that demonstrates capabilities in:
- learning theories and instructional strategies
- curriculum development and implementation
- assessment of student achievement
- teacher supervision/evaluation
Specific Core Function:
The Assistant Superintendent-Operations administers the operational systems and departments within the school district to achieve the objectives of the strategic plan. These include but are not limited to School safety, student conduct, facilities development and management, human resources functions, transportation and interaction with community partners. (S)he in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent – Teaching and Learning facilitates the development and implementation of the overall PreK-12 curriculum and instructional program, professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators. The Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in all matters as defined by the Superintendent.
Responsibilities of the Position:
Leadership
- Provides leadership and direction for School Safety planning through involvement of various stakeholder groups including school employees, students, parents, community members and community partners.
- Provides leadership and direction for school safety practices including facilitation of the Emergency Operations Plan and all related activities. Ensures the district/school objectives are aligned to state statutes and district policy as well as practices that yield the highest standards of student, staff and public safety.
- Provides leadership and direction for student conduct practices including facilitation of student discipline procedures involving district or BOSC level intervention. Ensures the district/school objectives are aligned to state statutes and district policy as well as intervention practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and comportment.
- Collaborates with City staff regarding the development and management of facilities plans and oversight of construction or maintenance projects within district buildings and grounds.
- Collaborates with Custodial Services provider to monitor and maintain the regular and high-level appearance, cleanliness and safety of all district buildings and grounds.
- Provides leadership and direction for all human resources functions leading to the recruitment, support and retention of high-quality staff focused on the needs of students, staff, parents and the community. Provides direct supervision of the Director of Human Resources.
- Provides leadership and oversight of the transportation program(s) operated or contracted by the district. Provides direct supervision of the Director – Transportation and Crossing.
- Supports the superintendent in facilitation of community partner relationships.
Management
- Utilizes local state and national data and trends as well as state and local policy to maintain the Emergency Operations Plan, and all processes related to school safety.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the student code of conduct and related discipline procedures.
- Responsible for the daily management of issues related to facilities repair and maintenance.
- Responsible for the daily management of building conditions and response to issues of cleanliness and preparation for operation.
- Provides direct supervision of the Director – Transportation and Crossing.
- Provides direct supervision of the Director of Human Resources.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of internal communication systems allowing for effective district operation.
- Assists with budget development regarding areas of responsibility.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
- This is a full year (228 day) full time, non-affiliated position.
Salary Range:
- $125,000-$135,000
