What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Teacher-Physical Science position at Manchester School of Technology?
The Mancheser School of Technology High School was established in 2012 as a Project-Based Learning (PBL) school that assesses students using a 1 to 4 competency based system. Students must achieve a 3 or better on assessments and have the opportunity to reassess as needed to reach a 3 or better.
The position available is a schedule consisting of five Physical Science classes. A hybrid block schedule is in place so four of the classes will be 100 minutes long on alternating days and one of the classes will meet daily for 50 minutes. In addition there will be an advisory period and a duty as assigned.
The school makes extensive use of Google Classroom for instruction and assessment and ClearTouch panels are available in every classroom.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.
- Requirements as set by the State of New Hampshire Certification Authorities and Board of School Committee regulations.
- State of NH Teacher Certification in Physical Science (1313), Physics (1309), Chemistry (1308) or other approved certification status may be considered.
Specific Core Function:
To help students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, and in harmony with these goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives and assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis to provide progress reports as required.
- Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking assistance of or making referrals.
Specified Length/Hours of Position:
This is an affiliated (MEA) position under the Teacher Association negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
