Position Overview :

The custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas the Director of Custodial assigns. They will be responsible for cleaning according to the standards set by Manchester University. We are seeking a hardworking, dependable individual to join the custodial team. We have immediate openings for individuals who want to deliver excellent customer service. This member will have a strong background and cleaning experience and be willing to work alone or in a team environment.

Essential Job Functions :

Clean and service restrooms, classrooms, study areas, kitchen areas, lounge areas, dorms, lobbies, elevators, hallways, and stairwells
Re-stock materials in bathrooms and maintain the cleanliness of all dispensers so they are in proper functioning order
Clean and maintain floors in all buildings
Remove trash inside and outside paying close attention to the cleanliness of containers
Clean windows, glass, vents, walls and maintain a clean environment in buildings
Dust in high and low places keeping within the standards set by the University
Keep to the cleaning schedules that are set by the Director of Custodial
Open and unlock facilities on weekdays set by the Director of Custodial

Secondary Job Functions :

Floor care- stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning as directed

Window care- inside and outside as directed

Complete Work Orders when assigned

Complete summertime assignments as directed

Check emails regularly

Attend weekly training and meetings when assigned

Maintain custodial closets with a clean and organized environment

Maintain and keep all equipment clean and in good working condition

Launder cleaning materials on rotation

Requirements and qualifications :

Ability to interact well with a wide variety of people

Team and customer service orientated

High school diploma or GED

Basic computer skills

Ability to get to work

Self-reliant, friendly, trustworthy and honest

Able to lift and carry 20 pounds

Able to push, pull twist, and turn 20 pounds

Able to walk and climb stairs for the shift hours given

Work Schedule :

This is an essential personnel member and non-exempt position that can be full- or part-time. It can have the potential for overtime for full-time employment, and weekend work may be required under certain circumstances. We are willing to work with flexible schedules and times to ensure the quality of work is accomplished for the individual and university.
