Martinsburg personal injury litigation law firm seeks a reliable candidate for a legal assistant/medical records clerk position. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication and the ability to be self-motivated. A positive attitude and a strong work ethic are essential. The applicant will be responsible for assisting attorneys and paralegals on assigned civil cases as well as general secretarial duties. Prior legal/litigation experience is preferred. Word processing knowledge required. Competitive salary with benefits, based on prior work history, education, and office skills.
Responsibilities
- Welcoming clients and visitors upon arrival to the office
- Assisting clients and visitors with the location of legal staff
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Directing the flow of mail, faxes, and deliveries to reach the intended recipients
- Assisting with copying, scanning, faxing, emailing, and note-taking
- Assisting paralegals with case preparation and medical record requests
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Formal qualification in office administration, secretarial work, or related training preferred
- Prior law office experience preferred
- Familiarity with legal terms, legal documents, and filing preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive experience working with word processing and spreadsheets
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Compensation and benefits
- Expected pay rate of $17-19 per hour dependent upon skills and experience
- Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401k, and paid time off.
