Job Description:
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking a highly skilled QA Engineer Automated 2 to support its Quality Assurance team within the Information Technology division. This contract position focuses on delivering high-quality testing solutions for complex web applications and systems critical to TEA's mission.
The ideal candidate will bring expertise in both manual and automated testing, along with strong communication and analytical skills to collaborate effectively with developers, analysts, and end-users. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required for this role.
This assignment is expected to begin on May 16, 2025, and run through August 31, 2025, for a total of 696 hours maximum. All deliverables are considered "works made for hire " and become the property of the Texas Education Agency.
We need candidates who are local and have state government experience.
Key Responsibilities:

Analyze user requirements and design documents to develop detailed manual and automated test cases.

Execute functional and regression test cases, log defects, and generate test reports and documentation.

Perform manual testing and data validation using SQL queries.

Conduct API testing (REST/SOAP) using JSON and XML formats.

Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to ensure test coverage aligns with functionality.

Conduct performance and accessibility testing using industry-standard tools.

Maintain and enhance automation test scripts using open-source or in-house frameworks.

Use JIRA and Zephyr Scale for test management and tracking.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field (required).

7 years of experience testing complex web applications.

7 years of experience testing across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

3 years of experience writing and executing SQL queries for data validation.

3 years of experience in creating and maintaining automated test cases.

2 years of experience with API testing, JSON, and XML.
Preferred Skills:
-
5 years of test automation using open-source tools or custom frameworks.

Experience with TestNG, JUnit, or BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber).

Familiarity with performance testing tools such as WAPT Pro, JMeter.

Experience testing .NET applications.

Exposure to Power BI and data visualization testing.

Previous use of JIRA and Zephyr Scale for test case management.
Work Hours & Location:
-
Standard work hours: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (CT).

Work will be performed during normal business hours, excluding official State holidays.

Flexibility in schedule/location may be coordinated with the agency.
