Come join MANE as our new EHS Supervisor! As the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor you will be critical to the success of our safety, health & environmental initiatives at MANE and work daily to protect and improve employee safety through prevention, encouraging a culture where safety is embedded as a core value. Additionally, the EHS Supervisor directs the development and implementation of programs and systems to comply with federal, state, and local EHS regulations as well as Company policies, strategies, initiatives, and goals. The role will report to the EHS Sr. Manager and has direct reports. The EHS Supervisor will assist the Sr. EHS Manager in leading the safety and health efforts within the sites, by supporting the implementation and evaluation of critical safety processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance and injury reduction.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the EHS Sr. Manager to manage and direct the sites in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Assists in the development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of EHS strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate a culture where safety is embedded as a core value for the organization.
  • Lead and develop EHS team reports to become subject matter experts in all areas including environmental, health, and safety to ensure all areas are covered with redundant knowledge and experience.
  • Assists the EHS Sr. Manager and EHS team in overseeing compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations and MANE EHS standards regionally.
  • Serves as an example of effective collaboration with business functional groups to assure that employee safety and compliance with EHS regulations are supported.
  • Assists the EHS Sr. Manager in defining clear and attainable EHS goals and objectives and support the organization in the implementation of EHS goals and objectives.
  • Drives the Operations team and EHS reports to quickly and effectively investigate all EHS related incidents to identify true root cause and actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assists the EHS Sr. Manager in establishing appropriate EHS metrics for the sites as well as regularly collecting data and reporting on these metrics to the Operations Leadership Team.
  • Manages EHS job functions for duties such as job safety analyses/risk assessments, EHS training, workplace incident analyses, and industrial hygiene evaluations.
  • Assist and support Specialists with EHS related inspections, environmental regulatory reporting, permit negotiation, data collection / analysis and internal audits.
  • Collaborates with R&D and Internal Operations groups for the evaluation of new materials to ensure compliance in EHS requirements and facility procedures.
  • Conducts and leads EHS team to complete reviews for new product development, facility modification, product manufacturing modifications, and new equipment/machinery installations.
  • Selects and applies EHS principles, theories, and concepts and uses independent judgment to develop and design practical solutions to EHS issues.
  • Directs emergency and spill response plans, and disaster preparedness plans, materials, and equipment, as well as the facility emergency response team to ensure appropriate training, practices drills, and equipment are in a ready state.
  • Manages the monitoring of employee exposure to chemical and other toxic substances and physical hazards, including Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling and coordinating the activities with Industrial Hygienists, and other safety consultants as required.
  • Communicate EHS team expectations and give frequent and appropriate feedback to direct reports to ensure they are effectively executing the core competencies of a MANE EHS Professional.
  • Every employee is expected to participate in education/training about Mane’s environmental commitments and then actively apply this to job-related and job-specific roles and responsibilities.
  • Assists in the determination appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an EHS Professional in a manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA & EPA regulations.
  • Experience providing EHS training to employees.
  • Fragrance and Flavor industry desired.
  • Fundamental understanding of chemistry and technical terms.
  • Experience supporting PSM covered processes.
  • Good technical and project management skills
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing the submission and execution of environmental permits.
