We have an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at our Lebanon, Ohio facility! This position is responsible to maintain financial integrity and ensure our business practices adhere to GAAP. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and a solid understanding of the IFRS 16 Accounting Standard. Must also possess a proven track record in managing the monthly close process, preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and performing balance sheet and P&L flux analysis. In this role, you will ensure compliance with accounting standards while providing essential support to the Accounting Manager. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with advanced accounting skills to contribute significantly to the financial health and success of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including preparing assigned journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and managing accruals.
- Responsible for managing affiliate transactions with proper recording in SAP and corporate consolidation software. Will collaborate with affiliate counterparts to reconcile intercompany balances and reporting on a quarterly basis.
- Performs monthly general ledger account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, identify, research, and correct reconciling differences.
- Support the Accounting Manager in preparing schedules and commentary on month-end results. Perform flux analysis of the P&L and balance sheet balances, comparing actual results to prior periods and budgets. Investigate variances, provide explanations to management, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the Director of Accounting and Accounting Manager during the annual internal and external audits by preparing schedules not limited to trial balances, general ledger reports, and account reconciliations. Verify the accuracy of financial data and address any discrepancies or variances before submitting to auditors.
- Assist with governmental reporting including state tax filings and census bureau reporting.
- Responsible for fixed asset accounting, including initial project set-up, creating, and disposing of fixed assets, ad-hoc reporting relating to fixed assets.
- Prepares monthly cash forecast, reconciles monthly cash activities, maintains YTD cash reconciliation, and verifies data on reconciliations for accuracy.
- Maintain IFRS 16 lease journal entries, ensuring accurate recording of lease transactions. Perform the roll-forward process for lease liabilities and right-of-use (ROU) assets. Complete monthly reconciliations to ensure alignment with the general ledger.
- Evaluate and streamline existing processes by conducting thorough assessments of current workflows, identifying inefficiencies or redundancies, and implementing automation tools or standardized procedures to improve accuracy and enhance overall productivity.
- Handles special tasks and projects as requested to meet company objectives.
- Prepares journal entries and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required
- 3-5 years’ experience in related accounting role
- Experience with fixed assets
- Knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of IFRS 16 is a plus
- SAP experience a plus
