Mid-Michigan Power Sports Dealership Seeks General Manager
The General Manager (GM) of our Mid-Michigan power sports dealership is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s operations, including sales, service, parts, and finance departments. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in the power sports or automotive industry. The GM will represent the dealership in the Mid-Michigan community, building strong customer relationships and cultivating a culture of success with employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily operations across sales, service, and parts
departments, ensuring efficiency, profitability, and adherence to industry standards.
- Sales & Revenue Growth: Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed
revenue targets for new and used power sports vehicles (e.g., ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles,
snowmobiles).
- Team Management: Recruit, train, and motivate a team of professionals, including sales staff, service technicians, and administrative personnel, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Customer Experience: Ensure exceptional customer service, addressing escalated issues and maintaining high satisfaction ratings.
- Inventory & Vendor Relations: Oversee inventory management, negotiating to secure competitive pricing and product availability suited to Mid-Michigan’s seasonal demands.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor budgets, analyze financial reports, and implement cost-control measures to maximize dealership profitability.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in the power sports or automotive industry, with at least 3
years in a management or leadership role (e.g., Sales Manager, Service Manager, or
General Manager). Dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent industry experience may substitute.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of power sports vehicles, market trends, and customer preferences in the Mid-Michigan region, including familiarity with brands like Polaris, Yamaha, or Kawasaki.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, with excellent
communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Financial Acumen: Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and performance metrics to drive dealership success.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfort with dealership management software (e.g., Lightspeed, Dealertrack) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license required; power sports or automotive-specific
certifications (e.g., NADA Dealer Academy) are a plus.
- Physical Demands: On site 5-6 days a week with ability to work remote as needed.
Salary & Compensation
- Base Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience
- Incentive Structure: Performance-based bonuses and commissions tied to sales targets,
service revenue, and overall dealership profitability, potentially adding $40,000 - $60,000
annually.
- Total Compensation Range: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
