Job Title : Summer Camp Paraeducators
Job Brief :
The Flint Hills Summer Camp was started in 2010 by parents and continues today to provide a structured, fun summer experience for children with autism-spectrum disorders, other special needs, and peer models. Campers are divided into age groups (about 12 students per group) supervised by a certified teacher and paraprofessionals. The program is held at a USD 383 elementary school each June and July. To ensure full participation, we require campers to sign up for an entire month-long session or the full summer.
Goals include :
Prevent cognitive regression over summer months.
Improve transition between school years.
Encourage socialization skills with same-aged peers.
Promote physical activity.
Provide a safe environment for students to work on individual goals, including academics, communication, gross and fine motor skills, self-esteem, and social skills.
Location : Marlatt Elementary School
Hours Per Day / Salary :
14.00 / hr.
Classroom Support : 7.5 hours / day, Monday-Friday
1 day of orientation will be scheduled prior to camp starting. May be afternoon / evening hours.
Days Per Year :
June-July 2025 / 6 weeks
Qualifications :
Minimum requirements are 48 hours college hours or successfully passing the Teacher Para Assessment Test.
Previous experience working with students who have special needs is highly recommended.
All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.
Reports To : Teacher / Camp Director / Special Education Director or Special Education Assistant Director.
Job Duties :
Full range of educational / non-educational duties in the following area : classroom, clerical, lunch / recess, and personal needs.
Appropriately deal with confidentiality issues and attend appropriate in-service training.
Abides by the general policy rules and regulations of USD 383.
Performs such other duties as assigned by the teacher, Camp Director, or Special Education Supervisor.
FLSA Status : Non-Exempt.
