What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Representative - Manhattan Yacht Club position at Manhattan Yacht Club?
Join One of the Most Distinguished Yacht Clubs in America
The Manhattan Yacht Club, founded in 1987 and located just across from Lower Manhattan, is seeking friendly, polished, and professional Customer Service Representatives to welcome and support our members. This is not your average front desk job—it’s a dynamic and rewarding role at one of the most iconic sailing organizations in the country. You'll be the first and last point of contact for our members each day and will play a key role in maintaining our culture of hospitality and excellence.
What You’ll Do:
- Greet members and guests warmly as they arrive at the Club, providing a high level of service from the moment they step through the door.
- Answer phone calls and emails with professionalism and enthusiasm.
- Help members connect with one another to coordinate sailing opportunities.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming clubhouse environment—this includes light cleaning, organizing common areas, taking out garbage, and restocking supplies.
- Close down the Club at the end of the evening shift, ensuring all responsibilities are completed with care.
- Be both visible and available—ready to assist, but also discreet and respectful of members’ privacy.
- Work both indoors (at the reception desk) and outdoors as needed to fill the coolers with ice, clean the BBQ areas and reset the chairs and tables.
- Learn members’ names and develop a friendly, professional rapport over time.
- Represent the Club with impeccable manners, polished appearance, and a team-oriented attitude.
Who You Are:
- Outgoing, personable, and genuinely enjoy helping others.
- Comfortable speaking with a wide variety of people—but also know when to give them space.
- Detail-oriented and take pride in keeping your space clean and organized.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Presentable, polite, and professional in demeanor and appearance.
- Able to work independently and take initiative when needed.
- Previous customer service experience is a plus, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are most important.
What We Provide:
- $20/hour pay rate
- A beautiful and unique waterfront work environment.
- Branded shirts and name tags so you can look the part and feel like a key part of our team.
- Training and mentorship from a seasoned and supportive staff.
- The opportunity to work with one of the most respected yacht clubs in the country and be part of a community that values tradition, camaraderie, and excellence.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their environment and genuinely cares about creating an exceptional experience for our members. The ideal candidate is the type of person who always picks things up off the ground, straightens chairs without being asked, and notices the little details that make a big difference. You should be proactive, observant, and eager to help us continually improve the way we serve our members. Your input will be valued as we work together to enhance our operations, keep the clubhouse spotless and welcoming, and ensure that every member feels respected, cared for, and impressed.
How to Apply:
If you’re excited about this opportunity and believe you’d be a great fit for our members, we’d love to hear from you! Please email us your resume, and if you want to stand out from the crowd, include a headshot and a short video introducing yourself and explaining why you’d be a great addition to the Manhattan Yacht Club team. Let your personality shine—we’re looking for people who not only meet the qualifications but also bring positive energy and a genuine love for hospitality.
Please do not come to the Club in person to apply. All initial communication should be by email. After reviewing your materials, we will contact selected candidates to schedule a Zoom interview as the first step. Exceptional candidates will then be invited to the Club for an in-person interview as the final step in the process.
