Job Description:
The School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Manhattanville University is seeking an Enrollment and Academic Advisor. The Advisor will work with the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the School of Nursing to support the registration and progression of new and continuing students in their respective programs. This includes ensuring a sound online registration system each semester, conducting individual or group advisement and registration sessions, working individually with students on an as needed basis related to program progression, tracking continuing students for enrollment audits, resolution of incompletes, and graduation audits. The person holding this position will also interface with on-campus stakeholders to help the Office of Enrollment Management process new student applications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Enrollment Management team to support recruitment efforts.
2. Attend Enrollment recruitment events as needed to present on School of Nursing curriculum. (Some weekend events required).
3. Communicate with internal and external groups that take part in the admissions process, such as financial aid, registrar, student services and academics.
4. Assist applicants through the admission process by staying in contact and answering questions as needed.
5. Provide support and follow-up to students to assist with registration process as needed.
6. Assists with the general academic advising and monitoring of the academic progress of School of Nursing and Health Sciences students at all stages of their degree progression.
7. Serves as a contact and provides guidance on the use of add/drop and course change requirements. Stays current with academic policy, the nursing curriculum, and graduation requirements.
8. Maintain accurate electronic record keeping as required by the School and University.
9. Coordinate with Associate Dean, Academic Affairs, Nursing, on student success initiatives and assists with outreach to students for whom concerns have been shared and provides appropriate referrals to campus resources.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to problem solve and maintain necessary confidentiality in communications.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills communication skills.
- Attention to detail a must.
- Demonstrated interest in student development and dedication to the University’s core values.
- Experience with student planning and transcript evaluation software a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel and other database software.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, Master in Higher Education preferred.
- Two years’ experience advising in nursing and/or health sciences is desired.
- Experience performing college/university transcript evaluation desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Hours Expectation:
Full-time, 35 hours per week
