Job Description
The University is seeking a dedicated Student Employment Coordinator to join the Center for Career Development team at Manhattanville University to focus on managing the relationship and experience with Student Workers, on campus supervisors, and outside community partner organizations. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure they are engaged and fostering an experiential learning environment for all student workers. Additionally, the Student Employment Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting various other CCD functions and partners with Human Resources and Financial Aid cross functionally to deliver a seamless student experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Duties/Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for student workers, graduate assistants, and supervisors, engaging for support as needed.
Develop relationships with community partners and not-for-profit organizations with potential for OFWS (federal work study) designation, and assist them in onboarding as off-site FWS employers
Partner with HR Project Manager and Financial Aid to ensure new community partners are onboarded accordingly.
Guide incoming and current student workers as it relates to finding and preparing for employment opportunities that align with students' aspirations both onsite at Manhattanville and off campus through community partners.
Provide training and support to student workers' supervisors regarding hiring and rehiring procedures
Provide leadership and guidance on career resources and skill-building initiatives, including potential professional development opportunities and workshops tailored to student workers
Align all resources with student needs to ensure successful outcomes
Develop and implement NACE Career Readiness Competency training for hiring managers and students
Work cooperatively with the University's HR Project Manager on the recruitment and onboarding process for student workers
Work cooperatively with the University's Financial Aid and Budget teams to utilize all available resources for student employment
Conduct orientations for students regarding student work opportunities in collaboration with Student Affairs every semester
Create and facilitate orientation and onboarding processes as needed for new student workers, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles
Update and revise student employee and supervisor handbook
Prepare reports on student worker statistics and trends for the University's leadership
Collaborate and communicate across the University with relevant stakeholders
Address any concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner
Stay on top of developments pertaining to Student Workers across higher education, including NY state minimum wage requirements
Perform additional related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to build relationships with a diverse population
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail
Proficiency in Handshake, HR software (i.e., Colleague), the Microsoft Office Suite, and associated products
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex situations
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree required
Experience
Two to five years of relevant work experience
Physical Requirements
Experience working with student workers preferred
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Hours Expectation
Full-time, 35 hours per week
