About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to lead feature development and system architecture for our growing fintech platform. In this role, you will design and implement scalable backend solutions, optimize our database and service architectures, and collaborate closely with cross- functional teams to deliver impactful features. If you're passionate about crafting reliable, secure systems and solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment, this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and developing scalable, high-performance server-side applications and microservices using Node.js to support new and existing features.
- Collaborating with product teams to translate business needs into well-defined technical solutions, focusing on feature-rich development and user value.
- Architecting and maintaining reliable systems, including APIs and backend frameworks, to ensure seamless integration and long-term scalability.
- Optimizing database schemas and queries in MongoDB and MySQL, improving performance and data handling for dynamic feature demands.
- Implementing and promoting coding standards, best practices, and design patterns that improve code quality, readability, and maintainability.
- Contributing to technical decision-making, ensuring the architecture supports current and future product goals.
- Identifying opportunities to refactor or modernize legacy systems to improve development agility and system reliability.
- Mentoring team members, fostering technical growth and collaboration across engineering teams.
- Continuously evaluating and integrating tools, frameworks, and technologies to accelerate feature delivery and streamline development processes.
What We Offer
135,000 - $165,000 a year
Depending on location and experience.
Some travel required (25% or less).
This role can be mostly remote with occasional days needed in office for events and team / company meetings.
This role is a W-2 role. Sorry, no 1099 or C2C.
