POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing operational support for homeless and emergency shelters. Their tasks include providing direct support to residents, maintaining facility cleanliness, coordinating with social service providers, meal preparation, record-keeping, and crisis intervention. Receives supervision from and reports directly to the Prevention Services Director
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assisting with the intake process for new residents, including explaining rules and procedures
2. Providing direct care, support, and supervision to residents
3. Creating a safe and welcoming environment for all residents
4. Maintaining accurate records of residents’ information and progress
5. Coordinating with other staff members to provide comprehensive care and support
6. Responding to emergencies and crisis situations in a calm and efficient manner
7. Assisting with meal preparation and distribution
8. Cleaning and maintaining the shelter facility to ensure health and safety standards are met
9. Facilitating and supervising daily activities, such as support groups and recreational activities
10. Referring residents to other services as needed, such as job training, counseling, or medical treatment
11. Respecting the privacy and dignity of all residents
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds. Familiar with the local community. Alaska driver’s license within six (6) months of hire with a good enough driving record to be covered by Maniilaq Association Vehicle insurance is preferred.
