Job Summary
The Educational Math Specialist will provide technical assistance and support to local districts through the facilitation of professional learning, coaching, and consulting primarily in the area of mathematics. The Math Specialist will work collaboratively with Math teachers, and administrators at schools located within the Manistee ISD.
Required Education and Experience Qualifications
Valid Drivers’ License
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in Mathematics
Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of Teaching Experience in Mathematics (Secondary experience preferred)
Experience leading Instructional Teams
Ability to adapt to change
Experience working with diverse areas or populations
Knowledge of the region
Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required
Serve as Math Consultant in support of local districts
Provide professional learning, coaching, and consultation in the area of K-12 mathematics, with an emphasis on curriculum, instruction, & assessment
Provide consultation on research and evidence-based techniques and curricula for students’ learning of mathematics
Work with instructional staff within districts to provide appropriate materials, teaching techniques, and interventions for all students in the area of mathematics
Participate in state-wide initiatives and professional organizations. Work closely with MISD staff to coordinate resources in support of local educators
Support districts in the implementation of the district math goals in the Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP)
Support teams to analyze, interpret, and use data to inform School Improvement decision-making at student, classroom, and system levels
Support the MTSS initiative for mathematics
Assist LEAs in their efforts to implement and monitor an MTSS system for mathematics:
- Provide support in the use of instructional data systems, and in the use of state, regional, and local data and assessments
- Coach teams of educators in analyzing data to improve student achievement at all tiers
Willing to develop skills related to planning and facilitating professional learning and coaching
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $77,123.00 per year
