GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position will perform a variety of tasks related to the painting and finishing details in the production process of heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.
Available Shift: 2nd Shift - Monday-Thursday 3:30p-2a (additional 15% Shift Differential)

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a safe work environment
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures; perform tasks in a safe manner.
- In the event of an accident or injury immediately, notify the Shift Lead or Supervisor on duty.
- Operate, maintain, and use personal protective equipment and other safety supplies and equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company policies relating to safety, housekeeping and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
- Work without close supervision
- Contact the Maintenance Department to get equipment repaired when necessary.
- Ability and willingness to take on additional assignments as requested by management.
- Use tools, equipment and technology, computers or automated systems.
- Check results for conformance to print and / or specifications and make necessary corrections (Paint standard MSD 0210).
- Work with coworkers in a polite and courteous manner, providing cross training as needed.
- Able to work overtime as required.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and independently.
- Must be able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Level I
- Must meet and exceed the above duties and responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces of parts and equipment to be painted using brushes, scrapers, air grinders/sanders, etc.
- May apply masking supplies over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
- Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface when needed.
- May perform basic department maintenance on paint booth/s.
- Responsible for loading and unloading of parts onto and off the rail system.
- Properly scan all parts into the operating system
- Level II
- All duties of Level I in addition to:
- Transport and set up parts and equipment to be painted.
- Perform sandblasting duties as required.
- Apply primer to all surfaces to paint standard
- Level III
- All duties of Level I and II in addition to:
- May mix and prepare paint materials for use.
- Paint parts and equipment in accordance with Quality Control and job order specifications.
- Level IV
- All duties of Level I, II and III in addition to:
- Ability to touch up large weldments and finished machines prior to delivery to PDI (Pre-delivery Inspection)
- Preferred manufacturing paint experience
- Must be a self-starter, team player and have the ability to multitask.
- Able and willing to work in other areas as needed. Suggest and implement improvements. Follow up on details. Seek out productive work when assignments are completed. Actively participate in continuous improvement for our products and process to better serve our customers and improve the overall profitability.
- High School or GED preferred
- Base Pay Range between $22.00 - $24.00 per hour (plus 15% shift differential if on 2nd Shift), plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics
