GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all in-house IM&TE (Inspection, Measurement & Test Equipment). The Technician performs inspections as required or as directed by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager. The technician monitors and audits processes, making recommendations for improvement where identified.

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and calibration of all in-house IM&TE (Inspection, Measurement & Test Equipment). The Technician performs inspections as required or as directed by the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager. The technician monitors and audits processes, making recommendations for improvement where identified.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains required equipment and records in the calibration database (Gagetrak & QA Supervisor). These include but are not limited to measuring equipment, inspection fixtures, tooling, maintenance schedules, etc. Tools may include tape measures, protractors, pressure gauges, vibration sensors, thermometers, dial indicators, micrometers, torque wrenches, tachometers, other instruments as required.
- Coordinates the activities of outside Calibration houses. Works with production to coordinate inspection schedules to minimize production down time.
- Perform routine and complex inspections of product, including prototype and experimental, subassemblies and assemblies, and accept or reject the same with designated forms.
- Assists in developing and maintaining Quality Assurance standard procedures and equipment to meet customer specifications and objectives.
- Help operators become familiar with gauging, blueprint reading, etc.
- Set up, program, and operate standard and specialized inspection equipment to include, but not limited to: coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and inspection arms (Romer or Faro arms)
- Perform special inspections or procedures that are assigned by the Quality Engineer. These may include process audits, noise testing, torque wrench calibration, data entry, work instruction creation.
- Other duties to support other teams and facilities as assigned.
- Work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- 1-2 years of experience required. 3-5 years of experience preferred
- Experience with calibration of tools
- Must be able to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite Documents.
- Must be able to learn GageTrak and QA Supervisor.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints including geometric tolerances and weld symbols.
- Must be able to communicate well with all external and internal contacts, must have good interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- This position is located in Madison, South Dakota
