Job Summary:
This position keeps the district's buildings and grounds in such a state of operating excellence as to present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. This position has responsibility for routine care of the grounds (snow removal, grass cutting, tree and shrub pruning, leave collection and disposal). The position performs general maintenance tasks inside and outside the buildings. This position also supports the custodial operations within the MPSD facilities when necessary. All assigned duties are completed under the supervision of the Director of Building and Grounds.
Essential Functions:
- Perform general building maintenance requiring some degree of skill and ability in handling common tools and equipment for the performance of the assigned repairs.
- Provide maintenance in various areas such as painting, flooring and wall repair, concrete, welding, plumbing, heating, roofing, and electrical.
- Perform site maintenance duties including, but not limited to the following, lawn mowing, trimming, raking leaves, planting and/or trimming shrubs and trees, snow removal, preparation of athletic fields
- Perform custodial support as assigned for building operations throughout the MPSD facilities.
- Maintains and keeps current on all assigned employee safety training requirements and complies with State, local, and Board of Education guidelines.
- Utilize basic computer programs for email, absence management and maintenance work orders.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outdoors (grounds work, lawn mowing and snow removal) and will routinely work indoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. Frequently, the employee will work alone and occasionally will work irregular or extended hours.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
