Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production staff, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong leadership skills and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assign work orders and tasks to shop floor employees based on their skills and workload.
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to staff on proper techniques and safety procedures.
- Oversees the daily workflow and assignments of the production shift.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Production Management:
- Ensure production schedules are met by monitoring progress and addressing delays.
- Optimize workflow and identify areas for efficiency improvements.
- Monitor quality control standards and identify any defects or non-conforming products.
- Implement corrective actions to address quality issues.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Oversee the proper maintenance and calibration of shop floor machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and repairs.
- Ensure proper use and safety procedures are followed when operating machinery.
Safety Compliance:
- Enforce all safety regulations and procedures on the shop floor.
- Investigate safety incidents and implement preventative measures.
Reporting and Communication:
- Regularly report production status, quality issues, and any operational challenges to management.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, machinery operation, and quality control procedures relevant to the industry.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage a team, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and troubleshoot production issues, implement solutions, and make timely decisions.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication with both shop floor employees and management to convey information clearly. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as needed.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in production.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a manufacturing environment or related industry.
- Lead operator or supervisor in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Basic CNC operation preferred
- Overhead crane and forklift operator preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse the production facility
- Must be able to kneel, squat, climb, and reach overhead
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds at a time.
