As a Laboratory Technician at MANN HUMMEL, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our engineering and manufacturing teams through advanced measurement and testing. This role requires hands-on experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure component quality and compliance with customer specifications.
Main Tasks
- Perform precise measurements using CMM equipment (including programming) based on engineering drawings and standards.
- Conduct lab tests and inspections on raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods to support control plans, PPAP, R&D, and audits.
- Interpret technical drawings and 3D models to program CMM routines and verify critical dimensions.
- Maintain and manage the calibration system for production and quality measurement tools.
- Collaborate with design and quality engineers to analyze test data and evaluate products.
- Generate, issue, and maintain detailed test reports and measurement records.
- Support SPC and MSA activities, and report non-conformances to appropriate teams for disposition.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment related to flow, pressure, temperature, humidity, and particle counting.
- Ensure lab cleanliness, safety, and equipment readiness.
- Provide guidance on measurement strategy, methods, and tooling where needed.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in lab practices and equipment capability.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Industrial Technology or a related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in an industrial or lab environment
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience operating and programming CMMs (required)
- Proficiency in CMM operation and programming (e.g., PC-DMIS or similar software)
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented, dependable, and professional work ethic
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of ASTM, ISO, and customer specifications
- Ability to interpret test data and provide feedback
- Experience with calibration, lab testing methods, and basic statistical analysis
- Familiarity with SPC, MSA, and quality systems
- Experience working with filtration products
- Knowledge of programming logic in measurement tools
- Gage R&R expertise
