Position Summary: The Order Picker is responsible for performing warehousing duties as described below. This position receives direction from the Product Manager for related job duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Picks product for agency orders for delivery through Mobile Delivery program or agency pickup. Must maintain accuracy in picking and recording of product. Palletizes and stretch-wraps product for safe shipment on MANNA vehicles or agency vehicles.
Picks product for TEFAP/SNAP programs as needed. Responsible for conducting periodic inventories of specific product for inventory control.
Keeps track of pallet weights, number of pallets/orders, and delivery sequence of orders for mobile deliveries in order for appropriate vehicle(s) to be assigned. Provides such information to driver(s) for proper loading of MANNA vehicles.
Assists in perishable order pick as needed, becomes fully cross-trained and capable of pulling refrigerated and frozen orders.
Assists in unloading incoming product, completion of related paperwork and storing product in designated locations under direction of Product Manager.
Assists in loading outgoing product for agency pickups, mobile deliveries, shipment to other food banks and transfers to other MANNA storage/distribution sites, along with completion of related paperwork (order sheets, invoices and transfer sheets).
Assists in general warehouse duties including but not limited to: product repack/ restack; restocking; inventory control.
Assists in general warehouse maintenance including but not limited to: restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cobwebbing, pest control duties, equipment safety checks, daily temperature logs and any other cleaning duties as assigned.
Assists other MANNA staff in any areas related to food drives, fund raising, and other special events as deemed necessary by Product or Distribution Manager.
Assists in making deliveries/pickups of product in MANNA vehicles as needed.
Adheres to established safety policies and effectively utilizes company programs to reduce accidents. Always works safely.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
Copy of current driver’s license required; copy of current auto insurance; and clean MVR required
Must be able to satisfy MANNA's insurer with regard to having and maintaining a safe driving record
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of load-handling equipment including but not limited to; forklifts, reach trucks, and electric and manual pallet jacks
Must have effective oral and written communication skills with the demonstrated the ability to effectively and pleasantly communicate
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Prior experience working in a warehouse environment or with warehouse equipment
Must be able to maintain accurate and legible invoices, receipts, and related paperwork
Must be able to maintain a production-oriented level of work

Working Conditions: This position will be performed in a warehouse setting. This setting that can be at times, hot or cold depending on the season. This position is at times subject to working in extreme cold with temperatures below 32 degrees as needed. This is a fast paced hands-on physical work environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately loud within the Warehouse.
Physical Demands: The physical demands required here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
The physical demands of this position are for very heavy work. This position requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This includes lifting/carrying in excess of 50lbs frequently and lifting up to 100lbs occasionally. Additionally, this position requires the operation of a manual pallet jacks with the ability to manage loads in excess of 2000lbs. This includes pushing and pulling of product throughout the warehouse. While performing job duties the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and heavy equipment, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Minimal, but routine travel may be required within the service area. Employee must provide proof of current, valid North Carolina driver’s license with clean MVR and auto insurance
Schedule: Typical schedule is Monday – Friday 7:30a – 3:30p or 8:00a – 4:00p, with some flexibility as needed.
